We heard this was coming, and now it’s officially here!
OpenAI has officially launched ChatGPT Checkout, powered by the Agentic Commerce Protocol (ACP) in partnership with Stripe.
What does this mean?
Shoppers can now go from asking “What’s a good ceramic gift under $100?” to buying directly inside ChatGPT.
Merchants stay in control. You’re still the merchant of record, with full ownership of fulfillment, payments, and customer relationships.
Discovery is organic and free. Products appear when they’re most relevant, and you only pay a small fee when a purchase happens.
Checkout is instant, secure, and seamless with Apple Pay, Google Pay, or card.
This is the first real step into agentic commerce, where AI agents don’t just recommend products, they facilitate the purchase. It’s already live with Etsy, with Shopify merchants next, and expansion beyond the US planned.

The future of ecommerce isn’t just about driving traffic. It’s about meeting your customers where they already are, in the conversations they’re having with AI.
We’ll have much more on the world of agentic commerce in a couple of new podcasts we’ll be releasing soon. We’ll also continue to unpack this huge announcement from OpenAI. Join our community to learn more.
